The availability of a highly efficient CVT makes it possible not only to substitute existing CVTs bringing an energetic advantage (reduced loss of power, hence reduced heat generation), but also to imagine new applications where the CVTs based on previous technologies could not fit because of intrinsic limitations in torque or efficiency.
