There are different embedded CAN-based networks used in mobile machines. In the machine-related parts (attachments, body-application units and implements), CANopen and J1939 are applied as CAN-based application layers. The presentation provides an overview about the current and future activities regarding harmonized and standardized solutions. This includes self-driving machines as well as permanently attached machines and changeable equipment. The presentation discusses also the specification and standardization of parameters and the mapping to messages (entity of the application layer). Cybersecurity and functional safety are also addressed in this paper.
