Hydrogen & Alternative Fuels
Hydrogen is a key lever to decarbonize the industrial vehicle/off-highway domain. However, safe integration of H2 tank systems into mobile applications is challenging. This presentation introduces the key components and a systematic, domain-agnostic safety engineering approach for hydrogen storage across H2 ICE and fuel-cell powertrains. It combines item definition, hazard and risk analysis, as well as functional and product safety while considering relevant regulatory aspects. Examples show how digital twins, diagnostics and data-driven services support leakage detection, safe refueling and regulatory compliance for industrial/off-road vehicles, reducing development effort and enabling safe H2 adoption.
