New die-casting technology
)
Demand is growing for electric drives in the automotive and industrial sectors. For development and operation of these vehicles and applications, the best heat sinks and housings are required to dissipate the heat generated in a focused way.
Heat dissipation in active components such as battery systems is a key requirement in the design of such systems. Semi-solid metal (SSM) die-casting technology can be used to produce heat sinks and housings with optimized properties.
The casting material composition of liquid and solid, in up to 50/50 proportions, is selected by the product design and enables a homogeneous filling process during the injection process.
The semi-solid, thixotropic alloys reduce air inclusions in the production process due to their spherical molecular structure and the homogeneous filling process. This results in high strength and toughness as well as lower porosity.
Depending on the design of the overall system, better cooling performance can be achieved.
SSM aluminum components are also heat treatable, weldable and pressure tight.
