2024 Show Review

Over two days at Köln Messe, Germany, iVT Industrial Vehicle Technology Expo (iVT Expo) 2024 hosted over 150 exhibitors, over 70 speakers and thousands of visitors from around the world. “It was inspiring to see so many innovative ideas and products.” said DDM hopt+schuler who exhibited at iVT Expo, “Thank you for the many visitors and interesting conversations!”

iVT Expo provided the perfect stage for visitors to discover the latest innovations across the industrial vehicle industry. Many exhibitors launched new products at the show and conducted live demonstrations of the latest tech. Attendees were able to see the very latest industry-leading technology, including Solectrix’s new intelligent solution for embedded vision applications in industrial vehicles. It was great to see thousands of visitors growing their professional network and seeing live product demonstrations.

The co-located iVT conference also offered visitors the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the industry, learn about upcoming developments, and discover what to look forward to in the future. With the conference held alongside the expo hall, the whole event offered attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the latest technology at the conference and then visit the expo to see the technology in action.

The conference sessions discussed key topics around the future of industrial vehicles; electric, hybrid and alternative powertrain solutions; developments in autonomous off-road vehicle technology; and the evolution of a human-machine interface for smarter, more efficient mobile machines. With an opening plenary session and two dedicated conference tracks, attendees had the opportunity to hear from over 70 speakers.

The two key trends at the conference were automation in industrial vehicles and the development of cleaner, more efficient power sources for industrial vehicles. In the opening plenary sessions, attendees were able to hear from top OEMs and industry leaders on what they envision the future of industrial vehicles will look like.

The second track of the conference covered electrification and alternate power sources. As sustainability increasingly becomes a critical focus and priority, it’s crucial for industrial vehicle experts to hear from industry pioneers on the push for sustainability and the need to reduce carbon emissions. Across the conference’s two days, there were over 25 talks around enhancing efficiency and the challenges of electrification and alternative power sources. As well as innovative talks on AI in batteries and hybrid technology.

The third track focused on; autonomous, CAB design and evolving interface, and looked at how automation and artificial intelligence are transforming the industrial vehicle industry. Topics included software, remote control technologies and artificial intelligence to enable industrial vehicles to operate autonomously and make intelligent decisions to optimize performance and safety.

Innovation partner for iVT Expo, Danfoss Power Solutions (Danfoss), held two sessions at the conference. First, Adam Khaw, head of autonomy at Danfoss, hosted a panel discussion on the future of off-highway autonomy. Experts in autonomy, Selin Tur, Jakub Kejdus, Pertti Lukkari and product manager for autonomy at Danfoss, Estela Nario Bago, were on the panel.

The five experts discussed the changes that are happening in the industry and the impacts of recent new technology developments. Riccardo Bianchi, subsystem engineer at Danfoss, then discussed the electrification revolution, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of electrification and innovating with Danfoss technologies.

During his presentation, Riccardo navigated the electrification landscape and unraveled megatrends driving the shift. He then spoke in depth about Danfoss’ approach, ranging from engine swaps to system-wide optimizations, uncovering strategies for hydraulic efficiency improvement.

The industry hailed iVT Expo 2024 a huge success and the event will be returning to Köln Messe, Cologne, Germany on June 11 & 12, 2025. Register your interest now to receive event updates to your inbox and be the first to know when conference and expo passes are available.
